Easter Seals Southwest Florida provides equal opportunity to live, work, and play through our Adult Day Training (ADT) program. The program offers relevant personal, social, therapeutic, and work skill training to adults with disabilities through community and center-based resources. The activities are designed to advance individual independence and expand participants’ life choices at work, home, school, and in the community. Our adults enjoy participating in community outings, agency projects, community contract work, board games, cooperative activities, volunteer opportunities, shopping, creating art, cooking, tai chi, social clubs, book clubs, and annual special events, such as Easter Seals Idol and Elvis Fest! On the last Friday of the month, we have “Happy Hour” – a d.j.-hosted dance and cake celebration for everyone in the agency who has a birthday in that month. In addition to our usual 95 adult participants, we have recently expanded our services to include specialized care for individuals who are profoundly developmentally disabled or who require multiple individualized services. We are fortunate to have staff that has experience and expertise in meeting the needs of the individuals in this program. Because this population receives tremendous benefits from therapy services, such as physical therapy, speech/language therapy, and occupational therapy, this new program room is located in the space adjacent to where therapy services are provided. Easter Seals Southwest Florida’s ADT program is one of the few locations in this county that provide services and care to the profoundly developmentally disabled. We are pleased to be offering this program to individuals and families who need intensive daily care for their loved ones. We look forward to expanding our program even further!
