Easter Seals Southwest Florida

Easter Seals Southwest Florida has been awarded three new grants to benefit Easter Seals’ children’s services.

Easter Seals’ Project Rainbow Children’s Respite Services program received a $5,000 grant from The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc., made possible through the Charles L. Huisking, Jr. and Lillian Huisking Donor Advised Fund.

 “This grant will enable Easter Seals to provide hours and hours of relief for parents and caregivers of children with special needs,” said Ladd Waldo, President/CEO of Easter Seals. “These breaks enable parents to relax, pay bills, run errands and handle other tasks, secure in the knowledge that their children are being well cared for. On behalf of our clients, their families and the Easter Seals team we want to thank The Community Foundation of Sarasota County and the Charles L. Huisking, Jr. and Lillian Huisking Donor Advised Fund.”

Easter Seals’ Children’s Therapy Center also recently received two generous grants.  The Sarasota County Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to provide therapy services to children living with disabilities and developmental delays who do not have adequate healthcare coverage, and who do not have the means to otherwise pay for therapy services.  In addition, the Service Club of Manatee County awarded a grant of $1,000 to purchase language based therapeutic tools and games to be used by the children served by the Children’s Therapy Center.

“Early intervention and therapy can make a marked difference in the lives of children, and help set the stage for them to achieve their highest potential in the future,” said Waldo.  “On behalf of the children we serve and the Easter Seals team we thank the Sarasota County Foundation and the Service Club of Manatee County.”
