| Easter Seals Participant Spotlight |

Please join us as we congratulate Melissa, a 4-year participant in our Adult Day Program! She was recently recognized by her employer, a local Target store, for 15 years of service as a Fitting Room Attendant. Melissa’s primary responsibilities include assisting customers as they bring selections in and out of the fitting rooms, answering incoming calls, and separating clothing items for re-hanging. She also serves a helpful resource for customers who are looking for specific items, either by asking her in person or by using Target’s in-house phone system, which she also answers. When asked what Melissa likes most about her job, she responded, “I like the guests the most. They are friendly to me. They don’t treat me any differently than the other [Target] team members.” She also stated that she appreciates her co-workers who “help [her] learn her job better and help [her] maintain the fitting room.” Melissa added that she also enjoys shopping at Target, especially for CDs, clothes, and the occasional snack at the snack bar. Even though studies show that the average employed person changes careers 6-7 times, Melissa says that she hopes working at Target is her one and only lifelong occupation. On behalf of Easter Seals Southwest Florida & Melissa, we would like to thank the Bayshore Gardens Target team members, customers, and store managers, Laura and Dave, for, in Melissa’s words, “doing a good job treating people with disabilities like anyone else!”
