John is married to Fran and they have two children; Johnny 8 and Lucy 6. John currently sits on the Executive Leadership Council for Leadership Sarasota and graduated from the program in 2004. He served as co-chair for Leadership Sarasota 2005 and 2006. He is Vice Chair on two governmental boards; the General Contractor’s Licensing and Examining Board and the Development Services Advisory Committee. Most recently accepted into Leadership Florida - Class of XXVII. |
John is Vice President and partner at Willis A. Smith Construction, Inc., a Sarasota - based Construction Management firm that was voted Small Business of the Year 2006 - Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and Service Company of the Year 2007 - Sarasota Economic Development Council. John was born in 1968 in Sarasota, Florida, attended Riverview High School and graduated from the University of Florida in 1991 with a B.S. in Building Construction. John became a State Licensed General Contractor in 1993.
